Location

Activities, Parks & Recreation

While many Washingtonians visit Tacoma to see a concert at the 23,000 seat Tacoma Dome, there are plenty of other things to do in the city of Tacoma.

Wright Park is a 27-acre arboretum with features like playgrounds, sports courts and picnic areas. Within the park is the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory with a large greenhouse filled to the brim with more than 250 plant species. 

The LeMay Car Museum is another popular tourist attraction in Tacoma. Located right next to the popular venue, the Tacoma Dome, the LeMay Car Museum is a 4-story museum with both historic and modern cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is kid and family-friendly activity located on the Tacoma waterfront. It is the only combined zoo and aquarium in the Pacific Northwest and houses 367 species of animals.

Tacoma is also home to the Washington State History Museum. The museum has yearround exhibits exploring the varied history of Washington state. From the lives and culture indigenous communities to the history of the Japanese Internment, the museum sheds light on the early history of Washington.

Shopping & Restaurants

As one of the largest cities in the state, it is no surprise that Tacoma has an exciting food scene. Some of the cities most popular food spots include:

Getting Around

As a part of the Pierce County Public Transportation network, the city of Tacoma has many options for getting around. Routine bus routes will take passengers to nearby cities like Fircrest, Gig Harbor, Puyallup and Federal Way. 

For those commuting to or visiting Seattle, the Sound Transit S Line will take passengers from Lakewood/Tacoma to Seattle. The commuter train runs 10 times every day from both the Tacoma Dome and South Tacoma to Seattle's King Street Station.
