Location

Newcastle is a city on the eastside of Lake Washington about 12 miles from downtown Seattle. It is bordered by Bellevue to the north, Renton to the south and Issaquah to the east. The city includes neighborhoods China Creek, Highlands at Newcastle and Olympus.

About the Homes in Newcastle

Despite being a city of fewer than five square miles, Newcastle offers a variety of sizes and styles of homes. Homes in the Highlands at Newcastle neighborhood are larger builds (of on average about 3,800 sqft) mostly original to the early 2000s. To the west in Olympus, slightly smaller homes sit on bigger lots around quiet cul-de-sacs. Many of Olympus homes, built in the 80s and 90s, boast stunning views. Over in lush China Creek large craftsman-style homes are nestled between the city's golf course and Cougar Mountain.

Activities, Parks & Recreation

Lush Newcastle has plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities. Countless trails weave through Newcastle including the Coal Creek Falls Loop, May Creek Trail, and Waterline Trail. Many of Newcastle's trails are located in the northwesternmost corner of the Issaquah Alps, a large range which includes popular hiking spots, Cougar Mountain and Rattlesnake Ridge.

Other popular recreational centers in the city include the Golf Club of Newcastle and the Coal Creek YMCA.

Lake Boren is located in the center of the city and is surrounded by Lake Boren Park. Though there is no lifeguard on duty, visitors are welcome to swim in the lake, which has a swimming dock on its eastern side.

Getting Around

For residents of Newcastle, I-405 provides quick access to downtown Bellevue. Commutes to downtown Seattle require taking I-405 north, heading west on I-90 and then heading north through Seattle on I-5. Bus route 240 also runs north to south, between Bellevue, Newcastle and Renton.
