August 27, 2014

Seattle is Western Washington's largest market for homes, with a market size of $1,153.7m as of this writing. There are almost 1,700 homes for sale, including 480 condos and 146 homes that are new construction.

Some of Seattle's most active neighborhoods when it comes to homes for sale include Ballard, Beacon Hill, Downtown, Queen Anne and West Seattle.

Ballard, which currently has 61 active listings and 674 properties sold in the last 12 months, is located in northwestern Seattle. Many of the properties in Ballard are condos and townhomes, as the area is quite urban.

Beacon Hill, located in the southeastern quadrant of the city, has more single family homes than Ballard. There are currently 75 active listings in Beacon Hill, with 417 properties sold in the last year.

Downtown and Queen Anne have 69 and 88 active listings available respectively, and have sold 210 and 717 properties in the last 12 months.

The most popular neighborhood in terms of homes for sale, however, is West Seattle, with 386 active listings and 1940 closings. The area is quite large, comprising all of Seattle west of the Duwamish River.
